I don’t know about you, but summer makes me sing – in all its entirety. I love it all, and I even embrace the messes. They’re part of the territory! Think ice cream stains on your t-shirts, grass stains on your knees, and the endless remnants of sunscreen, bug spray, and anti-itch spray. There’s dirt, sand, corn on the cob, and cotton candy dripping down your chin.
This summer, you’ll get rewarded for purchases you’re already making – and probably need to make! Big Y has partnered with Procter & Gamble for a great offer! Not only that, stay tuned to the end of this post where there’s a giveaway for a P&G Products Prize Pack. From 6/15 – 6/21, if you buy $20 worth of any participating Procter & Gamble products in one transaction, you’ll receive two Fandango movie tickets by mail! That’s pretty much awesome. We could ALL use movie tickets this summer – especially for those inevitable rainy days, or downtime days, or date nights or kid birthdays.
1 – Beach house, baby!
Beaches are always worth the extra trouble it takes to get there. Think sunscreen, sand, beachside picnics, ice cream trucks, and all kinds of fun! Plan to have at least one family beach day (pool, lake, ocean, river), or at least once a week!
2 – Hang out with animals!
Whether it’s the petting zoo or larger zoo, or local farm, or friend’s house – go where the animals are. In our family, we don’t have to go too far. We have 11 chickens here, and my mom’s farm has a dog, a cat, a mule and a friendly, cute pony!
3 – Nature walks.
Whether you’re looking for bugs or plants, berries or birds, or in our case – MOOSE – make sure you pack binoculars, a camera, a notebook, and a field guide or trail map. You never know what you’ll find, except you know you’ll find dirt!
4- ULTIMATE road trips.
And I mean ultimate. You may be thinking – how can we get so messy on a road trip? How, indeed. It happens, though! It’s eating in the car. It’s sea and sand and dirt. It’s taking home a suitcase full of dirty clothes. It’s salt water taffy on the boardwalk, or mud cakes from the mountains. Whatever it is – my kids will find the mess! Somehow, I will too.
5 – Being homebodies.
Of course, this may be the messiest way to summer of them all. Think bubbles and chalk. Squirt gun painting, and runs through the sprinkler with muddy grass all up and down our legs. Think shaving cream car wash, arts and crafts, ant farms, juicy strawberry picking, and time in the sandbox. Whatever we do at home, no doubt I’ll need to go to Big Y to get my P&G products immediately! They have a wide variety of the P&G products you already know and love.
We feel lucky because we live in between two Big Y locations – one in Northampton, and one in Southampton. There’s also a Hadley one that is super close to Cinemark – where you can use the Fandango movie tickets you’ll get after buying the products! Look for participating products – and chances are – you already use many of them. I know I do!

I went to Big Y last night to stock up for some upcoming special occasions, in which I’ll surely need these products. We have Des’ birthday party on Saturday, and his preschool graduation next week. We’ll be having house guests for two nights, and one is a baby! I can’t wait to see my nephew and celebrate summer and see some awesome movies with my tickets.
How will you use your movie tickets? Cassidy is the ultimate king of summer blockbusters so I plan to use movie tickets for a date night/Father’s day gift. There are so many movies we want to see, and there will surely be chances to use tickets.
Giveaway time!
Get messy! It’s ok!
